About Kim Wollenberg Burgess

I graduated from in 1979.  I went to law school at Hastings College of Law in , where I graduated in 1984, and received my license in December of 1984.

I have the experience and knowledge you are looking for; I have been practicing law for over 24 years. Like many defense attorneys, I began my career in the District Attorney’s Office prosecuting DUI cases.  Unlike many, I also have experience working in the Public Defender’s Office. I appear regularly before the judges in , Contra Costa and Alameda counties . I know most of the District Attorneys and can effectively negotiate with them on your behalf.

I care about my clients and try to make an unpleasant experience better.  As a wife and mother of three, I know how important your time and freedom is.  I try to keep my clients from ever needing to take time from their schedules to attend court. I always attempt to get the minimum sentence possible and work alternative, not jail.

I certified to administer the standardized field sobriety tests developed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. I am a member of several legal associations; California Bar Association, Alameda County Bar Association, Eastern Alameda County Bar Association,  Contra Costa County Bar Association, California Public Defenders Association and California DUI Lawyers Association (previously known as Deuce Defenders), I stay on top of the law and changes to it which affect my clients.

Most importantly, when you call my office you will talk to me.  I will be the one to return your call, not an assistant.  I accept calls in the evening and on weekends.
